Dr. Aaron Beighle (beat-lee) is an internationally recognized expert on physical education and school-based physical activity promotion at the University of Kentucky. With extensive global experience, Aaron regularly collaborates with schools seeking to elevate their P-12 physical education and physical activity promotion efforts. He has written more than 100 research-based and practical articles as well as six books, most notably Dynamic Physical Education for Elementary School Children, now in its 20th edition. Dr. Shannon Kell is an associate professor in the Faculty of Education at St. Francis Xavier University. Dr. Kell currently teaches in the Bachelor of Education program. Her research is focused on supporting teacher wellness by exploring the benefits of outdoor teaching and learning, physical and mental health literacy, and fostering school community health.
Risto Marttinen is an Associate Professor at George Mason University, where he teaches physical education pedagogy courses at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. He recently completed a year abroad in Finland on a Fulbright conducting research on the Finnish Model for Leisure Activities. He earned his doctoral degree at Columbia University Teachers College in New York in 2015. His research focuses on implementing physical activity programs in after-school settings for elementary and middle school students. These programs specialize in sports and fitness in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas and aim to strengthen young people’s academic skills as well as social emotional skills. In addition, he studies the integration of academic subjects and technology into physical education and serves as Secretary-General of AIESEP, an international organization for research in physical education. He has given multiple international presentations, including invited talks and keynotes.
Dr. Robinson is a professor in the Department of Teacher Education and the Department of Curriculum and Leadership. Currently, he is also the Chair of Curriculum and Leadership and the Coordinator of the PhD in Educational Studies. Dr. Robinson teaches courses related to physical and health education pedagogy, educational research, and critical research literacy. Dr. Robinson's current research interests are related to physical and health education, physical literacy, school health promotion programming, sport and physical activity for marginalized students, and socially just and culturally relevant programming.
Dr. Stoddart (she/her) is an Associate Professor in the Health, Outdoor, and Physical Education (HOPE) subject area in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. Currently, she is serving as the past-chair for the Physical and Health Education Canada Research Council. In addition to graduate courses, she teaches HOPE undergraduate courses in both the Elementary and Secondary programs. Her research focuses on physical literacy, physical education pedagogy, and inclusive/exclusive physical activity spaces.
