2023-2024 New Elective Opportunities!

Longitudinal group family practice and walk-in urgent care:

Duration:

Can be booked for 1, 2, or 4 weeks

Location:

Calgary, Alberta

Description:

We are a busy, full scope (except for Obs) longitudinal group family practice.  We offer facial and hair PRP, facial microneedling, Botox for migraines, and facial Botox that is done a few times a month.  We also service a lot of walk-in, urgent care type presentations.  Our patient population is largely blue collar with a lot of immigrants and refugees (from Ukraine, Latin America, Africa, the Middle-East, etc.).  This elective is a fantastic opportunity for R2s who are close to transitioning into independent practice in a safe and supportive environment.

Hours:

The clinic is open from 6:30 AM to 5 PM Monday to Friday and 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturdays.  Residents would not be expected to start until 9 AM.  Saturday attendance would be optional.

Preparation:

If the resident is interested in learning botox for migraines, they should read the highlights of the PREEMPT study.  If the resident is interested in some cosmetics, the preceptor can send over some material to read ahead of time on botox/PRP/microneedling.

Preceptor:

There are several doctors in the clinic the resident can work with, but the main contact/preceptor would be Dr Brenden Kunimoto.  Dr Kunimoto graduated from our rural program in Grande Prairie.
