Graduated cum laude (with honour) from Hunter College in June 1942 earning her Bachelor of Arts
Submitted her M.A. thesis at Stanford University in August 1946
Her thesis focused on mutant strains of the Neurospora, specifically those deficient in para-aminobenzoic acid
Esther Lederberg received fellowship opportunities from both the University of Wisconsin and the National Cancer Institute
She received her PhD from Stanford for her dissertation on "Genetic Control of Mutability in the Bacterium Escherichia coli" in 1950
