A message from Dr. Hanne Ostergaard, CRINA Director
2024 CRINA Research Day is fast approaching. For me, this is one of the highlights of the year, as it provides an opportunity to connect with you and learn more about the amazing cancer research that is happening here in Edmonton. Building on the positive response we received last year, we will be welcoming patient partners to our CRINA Research Day again.
This year, Dr. Pamela Hoodless (Director and Distinguished Scientist, Terry Fox Laboratory, BC Cancer Research Institute) will be joining us to give the keynote address about her work on the “Epigenetic Relationships between Hepatic Development and Cancer."
Following the keynote, there will be the first of two poster sessions, followed by concurrent trainee talks. The poster session and trainee talks are always a highlight of the day, as we get to hear about the research being done by our incredible trainees, and they can receive constructive feedback on their work.
After lunch we will have two panel discussions. The first is on “Engaging Patient Partners in Research," and will include a talk by Dr. Linda Watson, Executive Director of Supportive Care Services and Patient Experience at Cancer Research and Analytics, Cancer Care Alberta. The second session is on “Addressing Clinically Relevant Questions with Research." I am confident we will have some engaging discussions.
Finally, we will finish out the day with the second poster session, complete with beverages and snacks, and then wrap up with the awards ceremony.
I invite you to participate in our 10th annual CRINA Research Day, and take advantage of the opportunity to network, share ideas, and explore new collaborations.
Sincerely,
Dr. Hanne Ostergaard, CRINA Director
