None of the work in the Clugston lab would be possible without these people working at the bench.
The Clugston lab gratefully and proudly acknowledges funding from the following agencies:
Canadian Institutes of Health Research
Project Grant (2018-2023). Altered hepatic retinoid homeostasis in the initiation and progression of alcoholic liver disease
Project Grant (2020-2025). Altered vitamin A homeostasis and retinoic acid signaling in the development of congenital diaphragmatic hernia
Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Foundation
Discovery Grant (2017-2023). The Vitamin A Laboratory (VitAL) research program: fundamental insight into vitamin A metabolism
Canadian Foundation for Innovation
John R. Evans Leaders Fund (2019-2024). The Vitamin A Laboratory (VitAL) Research Program
Women's and Children's Health Research Institute
Innovation Grant (2016-2018). The role of altered vitamin A (retinoid) signaling in the development of congenital diaphragmatic hernia
Molly Towell Perinatal Research Foundation
New Investigator Award (2016-2018). Abnormal vitamin A signaling as a causative factor in the development of congenital diaphragmatic hernia
The Clugston lab is a safe space. Everyone is welcome. Vitamin A is an essential micronutrient regardless of sex, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and perspective, we like to keep the lab that way too.
#Greenlab! The Clugston lab has a Gold level Green Spaces certification from the University of Alberta's Office of Energy Management and Sustainable Operations. In addition to trying to make the lab a greener work place we also promote sustainability outside of the lab. For example, Dr. Clugston is a dedicated bike commuter, even in the winter months. Brrrrr!
