ALBERTA LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT QUESTIONNAIRE
Parent questionnaire on a child's early milestones, current first language abilities, behaviours and activity preferences and family history of language and learning disabilities, with norm referencing
Purpose: gathering indirect information about a bilingual child's first language when direct testing in that language is not possible. (Paradis et al. (2010) and Paradis et al. (2013)

ALBERTA LANGUAGE ENVIRONMENT QUESTIONNAIRE
Parent questionnaires on a child's language environment: length of second language exposure, language use at home among family members, child's engagement in language rich activities, parent fluency in the second language and parent education.
Purpose: Gather information on a child's exposure to the second language to contextualize the child's second language proficiency.

Alberta Language Development Questionnaire-3. (Paradis (2011). Appropriate for children aged 4-8. Note: Questionnaire was developed in 2006, so examples of some language and literacy activities are dated. Using more current examples when asking about child engagement in these activities is recommended.
Alberta Language Development Questionnaire-4. (Paradis et al., 2020). For children and youth aged 6-12 (Note. "Arabic" is the first language written on the questionnaire, but this can be changed).
Brief version of the ALEQ-4 (Paradis et al., 2020). This abbreviated version consists of tools to gather information on (1) language use at home among family members, (2) length of second language exposure, and (3) parent fluency in the second language.
