Ready to ace your next job interview? Join us for an exciting Mock Interview event, designed to help you sharpen your communication skills and build confidence! You'll have the chance to meet and interact with professionals from various fields, who will ask you interview questions, provide personalized feedback on your responses, and answer any questions you have.
After each interaction, you can jump back in line and connect with another volunteer. Each interaction allows you to refine your answers, practice your delivery, and get valuable insights from different perspectives.
The Mock Interview Session is designed to help you practice and refine your interview skills. They will not be looking at your resume. You’ll spend about 10-15 with each volunteer, answering just a few questions per round. Just like in a real interview, you won’t know your interviewer’s background – they could be a Mechanical Engineer, someone from another discipline, or even an HR professional. This setup is intentional; it prepares you for the variety of questions and perspectives you might encounter in real-world interviews.
You should expect a mix of technical and situational questions. You might be asked to explain a concept from your field, describe how you handled a tight deadline or a workplace conflict, or make a case for why you should be hired over someone with similar qualifications.
A few sample questions could be:
Tell me about yourself. This is not where you would recite your resume, but rather practice your 3 minute elevator speech, let them know why you became an engineer, share your career goals etc.
What are your strengths? Talk about a couple of your strong skills and give examples on how you have used them in the past.
What are your weaknesses? This is a thought-provoking question but remember to show that you are actively working on improving
What is your preferred leadership style? Be honest, concise, and positive.
