Program Description

The main goal of the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Collaborative Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site is to increase undergraduate participation in research projects on technologies that lead to the development of Smart Personal Protective Equipment (SMAPP). The research projects on material for protective equipment, heat flux measurement in fire conditions, and human-robot interaction in dangerous environments will be conducted at the Division of Engineering Technology (DET), Oklahoma State University (OSU), Stillwater, OK. The projects on wireless sensor development, circuit design, and artificial intelligence for human health monitoring will be offered at Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), Huntsville, AL. The students have an option to choose their project.  

The research program will be for ten summer weeks from May 28 - August 02, 2024.  Five students will join the REU site at OSU DET and four at UAH ECE.
