Old Engine

Tartarus’ previous engine was a nitrous oxide/ethane rocket engine designed to be integrated into a flight vehicle and compete in the Spaceport America Cup. It was set to produce an estimated 500 lbf of thrust with a specific impulse of 125 seconds. The engine was constructed out of steel with an aluminum injector and featured fuel film cooling, similar to Prometheus.  Unfortunately, the old engine was retired due to safety concerns.
