Philosophy

C. Wright Mills (1959) wrote that the sociological imagination allows individuals "to use information and to develop reason in order to achieve lucid summations of what is going on in the world and of what may be happening within themselves." Using collaborative learning techniques, popular cultural materials, and a scaffolding approach when introducing controversial topics, my teaching develops this ability in my students.
