ANA WOOLEY, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Hi! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (ISEEM) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). My work examines how digital twins and related digital engineering technologies can be defined, designed, evaluated, validated, and implemented across the system lifecycle. A central focus of my research is developing scientific frameworks and practical methodologies to better understand digital twin capabilities, distinguish digital twins from related technologies such as simulation and cyber-physical systems, and support their effective implementation in manufacturing and other complex engineered systems. 

My research has been conducted in collaboration with industry and government organizations, including Honda, MxD, the U.S. Department of the Army, and the U.S. Department of War. I am the director of the Digital X Lab at UAH, which supports applied research and education in digital transformation through a digitally enabled manual assembly line of drones and emerging digital engineering technologies.
