Career and Technical Education


U-32 collaborates with a number of educational organizations to offer alternative pathways for students to earn a diploma while gaining job training and certifications.  Students can complete their U-32 SLOs at partner organizations such as technical career centers, employment and job skills organizations and specialized educational programs.

Central Vermont Career Center

Students can complete their U-32 SLOs at our local career center. CVCC programs include: Automotive Technology, Baking & Culinary Arts, Building Trades, Co-Op Education, Cosmetology, Design & Fabrication, Digital Media Arts, Electrical Technology, Emergency Services, Exploratory Technology, Medical Professions, Natural Resources & Sustainability, and Plumbing & Heating.   More information is available on their website HERE.

Randolph Technical Career Center

U-32 students can apply to any programs not offered at CVCC or if they were not accepted into CVCC. Programs include: Manufacturing & Fabrication, Diversified Agriculture, Automotive Technology, Construction Trades & Management, Criminal Justice & Cybersecurity, Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management, Dental Assisting, Diesel Technology, Digital Filmmaking & Media Arts, Electrical Technology, Health Careers, Work Based Learning, Education Services, and Pre-Technical Foundations. **U-32 does not provide transportation to RTCC.

YouthBuild VT

ReSOURCE YouthBuild is a 12-month program for youth that are looking for alternative ways to earn a diploma while gaining job training and certifications. Students ages 16-24 have the opportunity to graduate with their high school diploma, be trained in construction skills earning certificates in OSHA10, NCCER, First Aid & CPR Training, and as part-time AmeriCorps members earn an AmeriCorps Education Award. YouthBuild is a Monday-Thursday program. More information is available on their website HERE.

Northlands Job Corps

Northlands Job Corps teaches eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent and places them in meaningful jobs or further education. Job Corps offers hands-on career technical training in high-growth industries and can also help them get a GED or high school diploma if they don't already have one. Job Corps is fully funded by the federal government and is FREE to students and their families. Programs include: Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive and Machine Repair, Building Construction & Technology, Office Administration, Clinical Medical Assistant, Culinary Arts, and Urban Forestry.  Housing is available and students can also apply to other campuses. **Students must withdraw from U-32 to attend, and live on campus in Vergennes, VT.

Central Vermont Adult Basic Education

CVABE's adult education services are designed to help learners 16 years and older. CVABE offers instruction in learning basic skills (reading, writing, math and computer literacy), credential programs for high school diplomas and GED®, and college and career readiness. CVABE has six Learning Centers including Barre & Montpelier. More information is available on their website HERE

Transition Academy

The Transition Academy at U-32 is a results-oriented program focusing on improving the academic and functional achievement of local Vermont students with disabilities. John Boyd established the U-32 Transition Academy in 2019 and has partnered with local organizations to provide connections to postsecondary education, integrated employment, supported employment, and continuing adult education to help students meet their unique post-secondary transition goals. Hireability Vermont

HireAbility Vermont is an energized network of employment and job skills specialists, and counselors who are dedicated to breaking down the barriers that have traditionally kept good jobs out of reach of Vermonters with disabilities. For over a decade, we’ve made lasting professional connections between local employers with roles to fill and job seekers eager to lend their talents and expand their career paths.  U-32 works with Youth Employment Specialist, Rocko Gieselman, to offer Hireability services to students.  More information is available on their website HERE.

Vermont Technical Colleges hosts the Vermont Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), a full-year alternative to the senior year of high school for motivated high school seniors and home-schooled students who have a successful academic record and strong interest in math, science and technology. VAST students take standard college courses at VTC to complete the senior year of high school and the freshman year of college simultaneously—tuition free. VAST is recognized as an independent high school with the authority to grant diplomas.  Visit the website HERE.
