During Reader's Workshop, we will have a mini-lesson and then students will participate in reading centers, which consist of independent reading, comprehension, spelling/vocabulary, teacher table, iReady Reading, and handwriting/keyboarding. These reading centers will change based on student needs and lesson content. They are directly aligned with state standards and WCSU performance indictators.
During Writer's Workshop, we will have a mini-lesson and then specific, learning intention-focused, independent writing time. The mini-lessons consist of teacher modeling and mentor text read-aloud. There will always be a sharing time at the end of each writing block. Students will peer edit and use rubrics to revise their writing pieces.
We also use a program called Fundations (word work/handwriting). We will do this 4 days a week.
Mrs. Bevins and Mrs. Ely are interventionists who will take some students during various times throughout the day for literacy services.
