We conducted surveys and non-structured interview/observations of users utilizing our application. Below you will see video feedback of the application and what they took away and our survey and results that we recieved from beta testing.Â
Interesting to see that though people had problems with the application they knew the importance of the data, that they were willing to work with the UI issues but we saw that as a pain point and focused on that post evaluations. There were 11 testers overall for our evaluations.
Out of the comments from the beta testers, these were the most frequently received critiques:
Down Detector X-Axis displaying in EST only
Inconsistencies in font, color, and size
UI elements either being too large or too small
Links breaking often
Not enough direction upon entering the home page
Course search did not work without capitalization matching the database content
Down Detector building map links were hard to click on
Despite those issues, the majority of participants would use UR Hub again. Their reasons were:
"It is very fast and convenient, especially for the dining."
Dining hours are easier to see
Elevator reports would change their campus route
Elevator issues are a common student annoyance
Course ratings would help with course selection
Beta Test Feedback:
Down Detector expansion to other areas on campus (ex: toaster at Rockies)
Incorporation with the official UR Website
Using Down Detector to provide alternate routes if elevator is down
