Problem & Importance

With a busy schedule, people often forget the expiration dates of the food items they buy and unfortunately end up as waste. Typically, people–especially students–tend to stick to recipes that are quick and easy, but this eliminates variety and even perhaps balance in their diet.

Limitation of Existing Tech

Existing apps/web applications either restrict themselves to a single function or require a subscription to access all features. Others tend to have confusing interfaces.

Examples:

Pantry Check - does not have the ability to suggest the user recipes based on items in their inventory

Cooklist - requires a monthly or yearly subscription to access things like filter sorting and custom recipes

Our Solution

Our product, PanTree, will be a website that provides a way for users to get more organized and encourage the reduction of food waste. This would be targeted towards those struggling to keep track of grocery items, usually being college students or newly working adults.

Some concepts that will be integrated into our product are a grocery list, an inventory, a recipe generator, and filters to help sort grocery items and recipes.

Project Timeline
