Step-by-step cooking instructions:
Our AR app features a step-by-step recipe guide with a clean, intuitive overlay on the user’s screen. Each cooking step is displayed one at a time, making it easy to follow without distractions. Users can flip through instructions by tapping to move to the next step. This enables a smooth, hands-free cooking experience while keeping the user’s focus on the recipe
3D cooking visual aid:
The app enhances each recipe step with 3D visual aids of food items and utensils, bringing instructions to life. These realistic 3D models appear on the screen, showing exactly what ingredients th user needs and how to use it. Users can rotate and inspect the objects for a clear understanding of each step.
Paper Prototypes
Physical Prototype
Low-fidelity, paper prototype that represents what the user would see while using AR Cooking
3 objects that represent marinara sauce, pasta, and a pot on a stove
Speech bubble over the “pasta” represents the real-time overlay that our app will feature
Implementation Changes
Through our development, we tried with our original idea to implement scanning into our app. However, due to time constraints and experience, we decided to move on from this. Instead, we implemented a 3D models in order to give users a visual of what their end result should look like after each step. With this, we believe cooks can feel even more confident in what they cook. Below is an example of one of our 3D models.
