We plan to create an AR application that will project animations on pages with words with implicit meanings. This will allow the animations to teach the child by showing, not telling what the words are meant to say.
Display: Each of the animations will be displayed near the open book that the child is reading. This will allow the child to still read from a hard copy text, and be able to resume reading naturally. Adding short animation clips will teach the child in a fun manner.
Tracking: Image anchors will be used to recognize the pages that the child reads in the book. We will scan them in and the animations will pop in after. This will allow for reading a book as normally as possible and create animations for multiple pages.
3D interaction: Our program will implement a menu that the user can interact with in order to rewind or replay an animation. The wrist menu will also include volume control.
Development platform: Our group will utilize the following technologies for creating the interface:
Blender (for creating 3D models)
Unity (for AR development)
