Open Positions
Two openings for one PhD student and one Master student, fully funded. Start in Fall 2024.
PhD student opening.
The project will involve theoretical brittle and quasi-brittle fracture mechanics, cohesive crack theory, lattice and finite element modeling of fracture, and modeling of radiation-induced damage.
Master’s degree required in a relevant science and engineering field. Background in continuum mechanics, fracture mechanics, and finite element modeling required.
Master student opening.
The project will involve impact modeling of composite materials, damage modeling with finite element method, and biomechanics.
Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant science and engineering field. Strong interest in experimental material characterization and numerical modeling required.
Applicants should send their CV to mpathirage@unm.edu .
In addition. the lab is always searching for talented and strongly motivated researchers. Externally supported undergraduate and master students are welcome to join our research team. Visiting scholars with external support interested in our research are also welcome. Internal funds might be available. Please contact the PI (mpathirage@unm.edu) for more details.
