Design Limitations and Next Steps

Zugnoni’s Zen Piano Palace (Z2P2) satisfies all of the requirements set forth by our client; however, there is still room for further development:

Durability/Weight Ratio:

In order to increase the safety of our user, more performance testing can be conducted to test the maximum durability of Z2P2. It may be helpful to test the maximum weight the table can support and go through the potential failure modes to ensure greater safety. Additional supports or different shapes for the table may increase durability, but the weight of the set-up should also be considered. As a result, future testing on the durability/weight of other designs could further simplify the design.

Further Adjustability:

An additional feature that may be added to our future design is a bendable music stand. This would increase the adjustability of the music stand and allow Dr. Zugnoni to move her music stand closer or farther away according to her liking. Furthermore, in order to increase the adjustability of the table itself, we may consider replacing the wooden legs with metal legs which would be more durable and easier to adjust. This would, however, make the table heavier and harder to transport.
