Critically reflecting on the alignment of their teaching philosophy, practices, and positionality.
The American Association of Colleges & Universities (AAC&U) consider ePortfolios a High-impact Practice because the process of collecting, arranging, and reflecting on works-in-progress over time help facilitate deep, transferable learning through metacognitive practices.
As a Searle Fellow, you will document your year exploring, examining, and experimenting with learning and teaching in your own ePortfolio. We hope this process helps you identify and retain meaningful connections across the diverse experiences you will have throughout the program.
You will develop the artifacts for your ePortfolio by attending events, participating in your project working groups, and developing your learning and teaching project. You are welcome to include additional artifacts.
Finally, we hope that this ePortfolio will also have a practical benefit for you and give you artifacts you can apply to future professional development and tenure & promotion opportunities.
Completed ePortfolios are due by Monday, May 19, 2025 in order to receive a Searle Fellows Program Certificate at the Celebration and Ceremony on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
Artifacts to include:
Welcome Page: A bio focused on who you are as an educator and your goals while in the Searle Fellows program.
Before Teaching Statement: The statement you submitted with your Searle Fellows application.
Revised Teaching Statement: A revised statement that reflects your learning and growth based on your experiences throughout the Searle Fellows program.
Learning & Teaching Project: Include any process components plus the final project and public presentation.
You have access to a ePortfolio template using Google sites. As a Google site, and as with any Google application, you can control who has access to view and edit your ePortfolio. You are not required to use the template if you have a preferred platform. If you do choose to use a different platform, please share the link with Lauri and Mike.
