• Two Languages, One Brain: The Value of Mixing Languages and Dialects: This interactive workshop will look at the language practice called "code-switching." Some use that term to mean shutting off one dialect or language as they enter a different space, but linguists have another way of looking at it: mixing those dialects or languages together, even in a single sentence, as an indication of sophistication in using someone's full language repertoire.

How do they learn? How are they being used? When should they not be used? In this talk, I'll answer those questions and further explain how LLMs are changing the world.
