This project was developed for my Game-based & Gamified Learning course, incorporating my educational background and expertise in autism. I utilized Articulate Storyline 360 to create the prototype and Camtasia to produce a pitch deck video.
Despite advancements in understanding autism, many organizations still lack the knowledge and resources necessary to support autistic individuals effectively. This project aims to provide neurotypical peers with the skills and strategies needed to create inclusive work environments for their autistic counterparts.
Gap
A lack of understanding and education about autism among neurotypical individuals.
Persistent misconceptions and stereotypes that hinder empathy and support.
Insufficient resources for organizations to effectively accommodate individuals with autism lead to challenges in communication, sensory sensitivities, collaboration, and overall performance.
Equip neurotypical adults with knowledge and skills to support autistic colleagues.
Enhance understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with autism.
Foster empathy and acceptance in workplace interactions.
Identify strategies to promote inclusivity and reduce the stigma surrounding autism.
Encourage effective communication and social engagement strategies.
Providing an interactive environment where users play as Sam, facilitating support for his autistic colleague, Jake.
Simulating real-world scenarios that challenge players to make informed decisions to assist Jake, reinforcing understanding through feedback and rewards.
Incorporating educational content about autism, sensory challenges, and communication strategies to promote awareness and empathy.
Utilizing gamification elements to engage learners and reinforce positive behavior through a reward system (earning hearts for completing scenarios).
Encouraging role-playing to immerse players in the experiences of individuals with autism, fostering a deeper understanding of their perspectives and needs.
