This is a website that was done for Health Education and Promotions. I completed this website for a hypothetical partnership with the Southwest Health District on colorectal cancer screening. This assignment was directly working with other health professionals and creating a solution to low colorectal cancer screenings in the Southwest Health District of Idaho.
This is a project on reducing the maternal mortality rate in African American in rural Georgia. African American woman are at a higher risk for dying while pregnant and up to a year after birth and implementing a plan that provides access to prenatal care to rural residents will help decrease the risk of maternal mortality. I chose this because as a developed country our maternal mortality is something that shouldn't be as high as it is. We need to reevaluate our care of pregnant people and change the way women are heard during the pregnancy. I found that 60% of Georgia's maternal deaths are deemed preventable. That fact only makes me want to help and do more to change that number so there is less people dying from something that could have been prevented.
This paper outlines a comprehensive prevention and intervention plan targeting firearm-related suicide among African American males under 30 in urban communities. It highlights the urgent rise in suicide rates due to systemic inequities, easy access to firearms, and limited mental health resources. The plan proposes three community-based interventions—lethal means counseling in emergency departments, community coalition initiatives, and firearm safety counseling with gun lock distribution—rooted in public health theories like the Health Belief Model and Social Cognitive Theory. Using a coalition-building approach, culturally responsive outreach, and policy advocacy, the initiative aims to reduce unsecured firearm access, promote mental wellness, and ultimately lower suicide rates through sustainable, community-driven change.
