Students will begin their daily drill and practice of academic vocabulary beginning with a review of their weekly Quizlet vocabulary for the first 5 minutes and then move into the Gap Fill Quiz which is posted as Bell Work in Google Classroom.
Task/Question Follow-Up: I will transition the class from the gap fill quiz over academic vocabulary to today’s lesson over nouns by reviewing the terms noun, proper noun, and pronoun to build background. The students will then follow a link from Google Classroom to the Kahn Academy tutorial over common and proper nouns.
Procedures Specific to Completing Task:
The students will follow the links in Google Classroom for drill and practice of academic vocabulary with Quizlet followed by completing the Gap Fill Quiz.

The students will follow the link in Google Classroom to the plural noun Plane Race Game and the Gulp the Plural in which they will compete for the best time identifying the correct endings to irregular nouns.
As the students complete the plural noun Plane Race and Gulp the Plural games I will be looking at the performance data to check for mastery of the main idea. The students will be directed back to Google Classroom to follow the exit ticket link for today’s assignment to a Google Form quiz consisting of five fill in the blank/multiple choice questions.
For closure the students will complete a quick Google Form multiple choice quiz where they will select the correct irregular plural noun form to complete the five sentences.
How will you collect closure data? Google Form
How will this affect the lesson tomorrow? This data will drive remediation of students who are still struggling with the key concept of singular vs plural nouns. It will also provide evidence of mastery for the students who do understand the key concept of the lesson.
