Custom Learing Plans are arguably the most important piece of the Mathnasium Method, as they determine the curriculum a student will be taught by their instructors. This guide reviews how to create and print a learning plan.
๐ - Giving Written Assessments
๐ - Grading Written Assessments
๐ - Assessment Results Meetings
๐ - WOB Assignment Guide (Radius Business Documents)
If this has not already been done, follow the Giving Written Assessments guide and Grading Written Assessments guide
This can be found on the student's page in Radius under Assessments
If the assessment has not been graded, then there will not be an option to add lp
This is also a good time to check and make sure there are no other active learning plans!
Click the 'Add New Items' button
Search for WOBs (or potentially Focus Ons) that you would like to add to the plan
You can roughly determine the correct WOBs by following these rules
If the student already has WOBs they are comfortable with, add the next WOB chapter
WOBs should usually be one level lower, or on level, with the current check up (i.e. - a student receiving a 50% on Check Up 3 should assign chapters from WOB M2 or WOB M3)
You can also use the Workout Book Assignment Guide in Radius Business Documents linked above
Using their written assessment, begin to narrow down the learning plan by removing material they do not need to review
Continue to narrow down PKs by removing material you believe would be too easy or too difficult for the student
(Don't overassume a student's ability! Students often make mistakes on simple material because they do not fully understand the concepts presented)
If uncertain about what material to assign, you can reach out to the Education Director or fellow Center Director
You should aim to have groups with similar material (i.e. - Fractions, Multiplication, Problem Solving, etc.)
Easier material should be assigned at the top of each group
You can use the Global Sort Order in the learning plan to make this simpler
Example Plan
Click the 'Shuffle Mode' button
Set all PKs 'Assigned Date' to today
Put each PK in a bucket, with the first PKs of each section being in bucket 1, followed by bucket 2 and 3
Put WOBs or FOs in the SUPP bucket
Determine the start page and pacing of each PK
Longer PKs may need to have a pace of 2 so that they can be completed relatively close to other PKs in the section
Click the 'Generate PDFs' button to create the PDF files
Print the Learning Plan PDF and 10-15 pages of SUPP PDF to add to binder
Unassign all PKs and WOBs except the first from each section
If a template has been made, this can simply be done through Radius
Go back to the student page
Navigate to the Account linked on the student page
Scroll down to Activities and click 'Send Email'
Select the Assessment Results Meeting template and fill out required fields
Send email!
If not, you can reach out to the parent via text or email. Make sure to send out a link to schedule a 15 minute meeting with you!
