At our school, we implement a variety of activities that foster English language learning while promoting collaboration among teachers, staff, and administrators. These initiatives aim to create a supportive and engaging bilingual environment for both students and teachers. Mingle and learn with us here at MingLi!
Learning English in a meaningful way includes technology integration and manipulatives. Students are always encouraged to speak, try and learn!
Weekly sentences are being introduced during Monday morning assemblies. On Fridays, students are monitored if they could speak their assigned sentences.
Introduction of Filipino Lastiko (rubber band) games and making Pastillas were one of the Summer Camp's highlights!
MingLi's Minutes to Listen is an interactive listening activity which allows students to enhance their listening skill in English. Students listen to an audio recording from the school's bilingual website and they will answer some questions using the QR code.
After learning some Halloween vocabulary words, students designed their own masks and posed for a spook-tacular photo!
Our Grade 6 students did well in the recently concluded Reading Competition. This is a good avenue for them to practice their reading skills, boost their confidence, and promote team work!
To celebrate the Christmas season, I introduced Christmas-themed sentences to help students express the holiday spirit in English. During the school’s talent show, they showcased their learning through lively Christmas song performances. Some students creatively presented a Christmas acronym, while others greeted the audience with “Merry Christmas” in different ways, adding a personal and festive touch to the celebration. It was a joyful and meaningful way to blend language learning with the holiday season.
Here's a video of my Grade 4 students reciting a Christmas poem. It’s a fun and meaningful way for them to learn and practice English while celebrating the holiday season!

To promote daily English exposure, an English Interactive Board is set up in a visible area where students can engage with the language during break time. Each week, the board features pictures and fill-in-the-blank clues. Students write their answers on sheets and drop them into a box. Winners are drawn and announced during the Monday assembly, with small prizes awarded.
One of our students took on the role of English host during our Sports Day and did an excellent job. This activity contributes to creating a bilingual learning environment at our school.
We organized fun Easter activities, such as egg coloring and an exciting egg hunt. Before the hunt, I taught Easter-themed vocabulary and sentences to enrich the learning experience. The hidden eggs were filled with treats, adding extra excitement for the students.
To promote vocabulary mastery in a fun and competitive way, students participate in a multi-stage challenge using WordWall, a digital platform that allows for interactive learning through games and quizzes.
This interactive vocabulary challenge aims to strengthen English language acquisition among students by engaging them in a fun, game-based learning environment. By incorporating visuals and technology integration, the challenge encourages active participation and reinforces vocabulary retention among Grade 3 to Grade 6 students.
Check out the highlights from our English Vocabulary Challenge held on May 27, 2025. Watch our word champs in action!
In addition to assessing the other three macro skills—listening, reading, and writing—we conduct speaking tests during Midterm and Final exams to evaluate students’ oral proficiency. To make the assessment more engaging, we incorporate speaking cards and interactive WordWall activities, using a clear rubric to ensure objective evaluation.
