Mother’s Day Warm-up Activity (Vocabulary Bubbles) for Grades 3–6
Students were divided into four groups. Each member was assigned a letter: A, B, C, or D. After looking at an image related to Mother's Day, they had to guess the correct vocabulary word by having the student holding the letter of their chosen answer stand up.
Hopscotch Word/Sentence Activity is a movement-based learning game in which the students remember vocabulary and sentence formation hopping on one or two prints. A word or a sentence is put in each print. In hopping on the prints, the students are required to read the word or the sentence.
This exercise integrates physical movement and language acquisition to maintain the students' interest since it develops their reading, vocabulary, and speaking abilities.
This competitive and active exercise is specifically created to test students' capacity to recall what they had learned. Students are divided into four groups, and each group has a placard on which they hold up when they feel like answering with the proper response among multiple-choice options. Whoever raises their placard first has an opportunity to answer. If they get it right, their car goes forward on the race track. The winning team is the one that reaches the finishing point first!
This review exercise has a fun spin on responding to questions. Students compete against their peers to flip a bottle and make it land upright. The first student to successfully land the bottle without it falling over gets a chance to answer the multiple-choice question. If they get it right, they reward their team with a point. This exercise engages students actively using hand-eye coordination and quick thinking.
In this active review activity, students recite the phrase "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" with the teacher. As the teacher hastily says "Bottle!", students will scramble to pick up the bottle in front of them. The first person to pick it up gets to respond to a question. If correct, the team will earn a point, monitored by the alien spaceship and rocket scoreboard. The first team to reach the finish line gets the game!
Students are divided into 4 groups. Each group receives cut-out letters and must use them to spell the given word. Once a group thinks they have spelled the word correctly, they raise their hands. The first group to spell the word correctly earns a point.
