Third through Sixth grade students at DaShin Elementary School participated in a Pen-Pal exchange program with second grade students from the United States of America.
Students learned the proper way to address, date, and format a letter using a beginning, middle and end structure. Students also learned how to introduce themselves, their interests, and their culture in English.
DaShin Elementary School students wrote letters during October and November. Letters were sent to the USA during the beginning of December.
Students from the United States began writing responses in January, and were received by our school in Feburary.
Our partner school for this program was General Greene Elementary School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
This pen-pal project was planned by Teacher Amelia in order to better promote English Learning and the Taiwan Bilingual Classroom Initiative. Receiving letters from the USA from students with similar interests motivated students to try their best in English classes.
