Class overview
Welcome to 8th grade English! I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year with you here at Burnet Middle School. In this class, you will be expanding your vocabulary, practicing the conventions of English grammar, preparing yourself for standardized tests, finding your voice as a writer, becoming a more perceptive listener and engaging speaker, studying literature and questioning the world in which we live. All this will be done so that you may continue to learn and grow as an active member of our democratic society.
About Me
In 2005, after graduating from The College of New Jersey with a degree in English and Secondary Education, I was lucky enough to begin my teaching career here at Burnet Middle School. Since then, I have earned a masters degree in English from Montclair State University, served two years in the Peace Corps (RPCV China 2012-2014), and taught at both Kawameeh and UHS. I am lucky to have a career I love and to work with students like you!
When I am not teaching English, I love to read, practice yoga, hike, go to the beach, travel, and spend time with my friends and family.
