TWN and Project Partners were successful in their bid to the PEACEPLUS Programme, Investment Area 1.3: Building Positive Relations, receiving grant funding of up to €1,615,720 inclusive of ERDF and Match.
The WRP is an innovative project that brings together community, training and academic partners to establish an holistic educational programme for women in NI and the Border Counties.
The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
TWN is proud to have officially launched the Women’s ReconciliNation Project. Supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), this €1,615,720 initiative will empower 1,600 women across Northern Ireland and the Border Counties.
Aligning the voices of our partners and speakers; partnering with Foyle Women’s Information Network, Ulster University, Youth Work Ireland Louth and GEMS NI. We were privileged to hear from our speakers: Minister Jerry Buttimer TD, Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Joanne Bunting, Junior Minister, Gina McIntyre, CEO, SEUPB, Patricia Lewsley-Mooney, CBE TWN Chairperson, Norma Shearer, MBE, TWN CEO, Professor Duncan Morrow (Ulster University), Catherine Cooke (Foyle Women’s Information Network), and Olufunmilayo Jora-Adejiyan (Youth Work Ireland Louth).
TWN, FWIN, UU, YWIL and associate partner GEMS NI aim to bring women together on a cross-border/cross-community PEACE PLUS Ireland-Northern Ireland environment working together in a learning environment that facilitates learners in becoming engaged citizens who will contribute to positive social change thus moving closer to meaningful social change and long-term peace and reconciliation throughout the island of Ireland.
The project will recruit 1600 women over 4 years in NI and the border counties, meeting the output indicator through the following results:
Undertake OECD Learning Compass 2030 assessment tool by 2028
Undertake assigned training modules by 2028. (47.5% PUL, 47.5% CNR, 5% BME)
Be involved in cross-community/cross-border training sessions/activities by 2028
Be involved across 8 Thematic cross-community/cross-border symposia
Progress on to a Peace and Reconciliation pathway
The primary objective of the project is to foster peace and reconciliation by addressing historical grievances, promoting dialogue and building mutual understanding among divided communities.
The expected change includes reduced sectarian tensions, increased cross-community engagement and the empowerment of individuals and groups to contribute positively to a shared society.
