1. Proper holding of the ball
a. Pointer finger off laces near tip
b. Middle finger and third finger across laces

2.Throwing/Passing the ball QUARTERBACK
a. Point your non-throwing side to target (not facing the target)
b. Ball behind ear, high and away
c. Twist, lead elbow of throwing arm
d. Step toward target with front foot
e. Bring ball forward, snap wrist, roll off fingers, follow through
f. Throwing hand ends up in other pocket
3. Receiving/Catching the ball – WIDE RECEIVER
a. Point fingers up for high catches (thumbs in)
b. Point fingers down for low catches (thumbs out)
c. Fingers spread, eyes on crosshairs of ball
d. Wrap fingers around ball, bring into body
4.Receiver patterns
a. Hook (curl) – R takes 5 steps forward, turns away right or left to face QB
b. Slant – R runs 5 steps forward, cuts diagonally toward center/sideline
c. Fly (go/streak) – long distance, R runs towards goal, prepared to catch at any point

Keep eyes up
Hip high, knees bent/flexible
Straighten at elbow to push ball down
Hand same shape as ball, use pads of fingers
Used when changing directions but can’t dribble
“Glue” one foot (the pivot foot)
Step forward or backward with other foot to change direction/to get open
Keep ball close so it is harder to steal
Chest pass - spread fingers, hands on side of ball, elbows flexed and out, Ball in middle of chest, step into pass and towards target, Extend arms, snap wrists, follow through with thumbs down
Bounce pass - aim a little past half-way to receiver
Overhead pass - similar to a soccer “throw-in”. Bring ball over and behind head, step towards target, extend arms and wrists, release ball while hands are high and just in front of head.
Point toes towards target, shooting foot slightly forward
Ball on dominant hand, guide with non-dominant
Bend knees and elbows
Extend legs and shooting arm.
Snap shooting wrist - creating backspin
Follow through, finish “goose neck”
