What to look for in Aeries
When you get the daily evening Aeries emails, make sure you also press of the link to the actual gradebook.
You are then given a detailed listing of all assignments we have posted and if there is a zero for my subjects - I typically also have listed there WHY it is a zero:
if AB is listed - student was absent when it was assigned and needs to make it up ASAP,
If DUE is listed - student was absent when it was "due" and needs to turn it in ASAP
if "missing" or a zero is listed - then a student told me he/she did not have it when I collected or checked it off. Then ask your student to PROVE that it is finished - show you and then cross reference it with the detailed progress report. If I've made an error, please let me know, but most of the time it simply was not completed or found when I checked it off.
ALL LATE ASSIGNMENTS, regardless of reason, plus put in my IN BASKET with a complete heading. Extra copies are usually printable on line from school loop or in the EXTRA handouts file folders next to the IN BASKET. Students MUST email me or comment on google classroom so I know to go back and check in a late/missing assignment.
What to look for in Google Classroom
Remember, STUDENTS mark items done or not in Google Classrom; this is not the same as my Aeries gradebook. Students can turn in a blank document and call it complete when it is actually NOT complete and will be marked missing in the Aeries gradebook. Google classroom is the vehicle for giving assignments and directions and collecting assignments. Most of the gradebook in Google Classroom will remain blank. Always check Aeries for true grades and what is missing or not.
