Assessment

The Twiggs County Public Schools testing program is a combination of National, State, and District Level assessments. The measured outcomes of each assessment and the curriculum assessed vary. Assessment is an integral part of the curriculum and instructional framework. Assessments are utilized to determine student progress toward mastery of the standards as well as the instructional program.

Achievement levels give meaning and context to scale scores by describing the knowledge and skills students must demonstrate to achieve each level. The four achievement levels on Georgia Milestones are Beginning Learner, Developing Learner, Proficient Learner, and Distinguished Learner. The general meaning of each of the four levels is provided at the link below.

ACCESS is an assessment administered annually to all English language learners. It is a standards-based, criterion referenced English language proficiency test designed to measure English learners' social and academic proficiency in English. It assesses social and instructional English as well as the language associated with the content areas within the school context across four language domains. ACCESS for ELLs meets the federal requirements that mandates states evaluate EL students in grades K through 12 on their progress in learning to speak English.
