The goal of the program:
To increase students' exposure to conservation work, environmental education, stewardship, and related careers.
This program is open to students ages 13 to 17 years old.
**a parent or guardian must accompany teen docents while fulfilling any volunteer hours**
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities may vary depending on preserve needs:
Participate in our docent training program.
Keep up-to-date on public program activities and workshops; review when needed.
Prepare and/or set up all program supplies and materials as needed.
Design and run interpretive hikes/programs for the public (if desired).
Assist with office duties, such as answering phones and submitting data on spreadsheets.
COMMITMENT
Attend mandatory orientation and trainings.
Attend optional meetings throughout the year for additional training and enrichment.
Volunteer at least twice a month (3-4 hours each shift) with the option of volunteering more in the summer.

QUALIFICATION
Currently enrolled at a local high school.
Available to work 3-4 hour shift each month (March-November).
Punctuality and willingness to learn new skills.
Strong work ethic and respect for others.
Interest in environmental education and conservation, public speaking, and/or community engagement.

March 14, 2026 Docent Training 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
August 29, 2026 Information Session 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
September 12, 2026 Fall Training: Apple Season 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m
***Teen Docents are expected to attend two training sessions per year. If you have a prior engagement on either training date, make-up training must be arranged with the Docent Coordinator. ***
