Laser Hair Reduction is a procedure in which laser beams are used to stun the hair cells deep inside the skin, which causes them to slow down their growth and eventually makes them inactive, so that hair growth is inhibited.
Various types of LASERS are available for Hair reduction. Diode, IPL, Long Pulse NdYag are the most common ones used. Among these, Diode and IPL are the most favourable for Indian skins because they have the maximum effect and the best safety profile.
Q. What are the effects?
A. 70-80% hair disappears after 6-8 sessions. 20-30% hair become very thin and 10% hair remain as before.
Q. How does it work?
A. Diode lasers use the principle of selective photothermolysis to target specific chromophores in the skin, usually melanin or blood. The lasers damage the chromophores by selectively heating them while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. When treating unwanted hair, for example, the melanin in the hair follicles is targeted and damaged which results in the disruption of hair growth and regeneration. A diode laser can be complemented by cooling technology, or other pain reducing methods which improve treatment efficacy and patient comfort.
Hair grows in several phases (anagen, telogen, catagen) and a laser can only affect the currently active growing hair follicles (early anagen). Hence, several sessions are needed to kill hair in all phases of growth
Q. When does it show effect?
A. Results are visible even after the first session. First effect is reduced rate of growth. Then, there is reduced thickness of hair and reduced number of hair.
Q. What are the side effects?
A. Itching, pink skin, redness, and swelling around the treatment area or swelling of the follicles (follicular edema). Burn is extremely rare. It was more frequent in the older generation of lasers. The new generation of Lasers has a very low risk.
Twacha Laser has a painfreee mode of hair removal called SHR. So it is a painless and comfortable procedure.
Q. How many sessions are needed?
A. Mostly 6- 10 sessions depending on density, thickness, area etc. Men usually need 8 sessions. More may be required if hair growth is very dense.
Q. What is the interval between sessions?
A. For chin – 1st 2 sessions are at 2-3 weeks if hair is very thick and dense. After that at 4 weeks, then the gap between sessions keep increasing .
For all other areas –There is a 4- 6 weeks gap for between 1st two sessions. After that sessions are at at 2 month gaps.
Q. What about maintenance?
A. To maintain, we may need 1 or 2 sessions per year, depending on thickness and density. Sometimes, 1 session every 18 months may be enough.
Q. What is the cost?
A. It starts from as little as 1000 per session. Our whole body packages start at Rs. 70,000
Q. Why Twacha for LHR?
A. Twacha has 4 methods of hair removal –
1.Diode
2. Triple wavelength Diode
3. IPL and
4. RF (for white hair).
So we can always alternate the methods to get maximum results.
The SHR mode makes the procedure painfree and very comfortable
All COVID precautions are taken while conducting the procedures.
