This youtube channel has been crucial to my success as a PE teacher. One thing about teaching PE in southern California, is the changing weather. There are rainy days, and days where it is just too hot to go outside. Some days the field is occupied due to a school event. Flexibility as a PE teacher is key. These exercise videos are so helpful when I need to be indoors. They keep students really engaged and always pertain to relevant topics and characters that all my students love.
The PE Specialist – Awesome Resources for Physical Education Teachers
As a teacher it is important to teach as many if not all standards. This resource has been so helpful to see how another PE teacher would teach a specific topic. If there is a specific skill I feel less familiar with, this is a useful tool to for lesson ideas and really great teaching cues.
He also has a great list of classroom management strategies.
Professional Learning Community
Learning from other PE teachers in my district has been the most beneficial resource for me. I am able to see first hand how others in my department run their PE program. We meet once a week and share ideas about lessons, management styles, and compare notes on what has and has not worked for us. Building connections with coworkers can be so helpful and provide you with a sense of teamwork that you may not have otherwise.
