Professional Growth Goal

My growth goal for this year was to focus on student engagement in the classroom. While I was met with many challenges, I was able to successfully meet my goal and I look forward to continuing to focus on student engagement in the future.

I was able to meet my goal by doing the following:

CSTP Self-Assessment results

Areas of Strength

The first area of strength that I hold as an educator is creating and maintaining effective learning environments for students. I promote social development and responsibility within a caring community where each student is treated fairly and respectfully. I am able to create a learning environment that promotes student learning, reflects diversity, and encourages constructive and productive interactions among students. I ensure that I employ classroom routines, procedures, norms, and supports for positive behavior to ensure a climate in which all students can learn.

The second area of strength that I hold as an educator is understanding and organizing subject matter for student learning. I constantly exhibit an in-depth working knowledge of English, academic content standards, and curriculum frameworks. I am able to apply knowledge of student development and proficiencies to ensure student understanding of content. I utilize instructional strategies that are appropriate to the subject matter and I adapt resources, technologies, and standards-aligned instructional materials, including adopted materials, to make the subject matter accessible to all students.

The third area of strength that I hold as an educator is the ability to develop as a professional educator. I am always reflecting on my teaching practice to support student learning. I establish professional goals and engage in continuous and purposeful professional growth and development. I collaborate with colleagues on a daily basis and engage in the broader professional community to support my own and my students' learning. I also demonstrate professional responsibility, integrity, and ethical conduct.

opportunities for growth

The first area of growth that I need to focus on is planning instruction and designing learning experiences for all students. I feel as though I do a fine job of this but I want my students to be more engaged and have fun with the content.

The second area of growth that I need to focus on is assessing students for learning. I am always assessing my students' work but I feel as though I do not give students enough extensive feedback needed to succeed.
