After the moderator has read the question twice, start a 30 second timer. At the conclusion of the 30 seconds, prompt the group for their answer by saying, "Group ___, your 30 seconds is up. Do you have an answer?"
If the moderator deems an answer correct, that team gets one point. There are no points deducted for incorrect answers.
If a team gets an answer wrong, the other team has the opportunity to "steal" the point by providing a correct answer. They do not get extra time to discuss; however, if the first team didn't use all of their time, the "stealing" team can have the remainder of the time to discuss.
Example: It's team A's question. BOTH teams should use the time to discuss. Team A provides an answer after 10 seconds, but it is incorrect. Team B is allowed to use the remaining 20 seconds before they attempt to "steal" the point.
The moderator may check with you to make sure the correct team is receiving the question.
Let everyone know when each team has 1 more question.
Make sure you have a 30 second timer at the ready (phones work great for this)
Use the "RO Scoresheet" provided for each round.
The moderator will start the round by reading this script. Introduce yourself!
The moderator will designate which team is Team A and which is Team B. Write this on the sheet.
After the moderator reads each question twice, start a 30-second timer. At the conclusion of 30 seconds, prompt the group to provide their answer (if they haven't already).
If the moderator accepts their answer, write a "1" in the blank. If the moderator does not accept their answer, write a "0" in the blank.
Let everyone know when there is one more question for each team.
Tally each group's points after the round and submit the scores as directed.
