Read each question twice, starting with the book title. For example:
In the book Charlotte's Web, what is the first message Charlotte spins in her web?
Use your best judgement based on the answer provided. If you feel students have "the essence" of the answer, even if they don't word it exactly as you have it written, you may grant them the point.
You may ask students to elaborate on their answer by saying, "Can you be more specific?" Again, though, use your judgement.
I recommend that you do NOT share the correct answer with a team that answered something incorrectly. This just opens the door for students to argue the correctness of their answer. Moreover, it extends the time spent in each round.
Welcome teams & verify that you have the correct teams for that round.
Read this script prior to each round.
Decide who goes first, by whatever method you choose (coin flip, etc)
Ask each team a question and deem their answer correct or incorrect.
Teams MAY steal points--if one team answers a question incorrectly, the other team has the opportunity to answer it. HOWEVER...they do not get extra time to discuss; both teams should use the 30 seconds to come up with an answer.
Alternate asking teams questions until each team has had the opportunity to answer 15 questions.
