Hello! My name is Janel Norris and I am the 7th grade math teacher and Gifted Intervention Specialist (GIS) at Tuslaw Middle School. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education grades 1-8 earned magna cum laude from Kent State University in 1993. I have also completed my kindergarten endorsement from Ashland University. In 1999 I graduated summa cum laude with my Master's Degree in Talent Development K-12 from Ashland University. The 2025/26 school year marks my 32nd year of teaching! I look forward to working with your child this school year!
My husband Carey is an ASE Certified auto mechanic and I have two children...a daughter, Hallie (25) who is a forensic investigator with the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office; a son, Cade (22) who is an apprentice with the Local 94 Plumber/Pipefitters, and a step-daughter, Jorja. I have a crazy dog named Bo and a cat named Pepper. In my free time I like to read, cook, spend time with my family, crochet (self taught!), travel and I'm currently obsessed with playing Pickleball.
