Students in California participate in online state tests that measure what they have learned throughout the year. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) was used for English Language Arts (ELA)/literacy and Mathematics. Due to the pandemic, the California Department of Education permitted districts to utilize an alternative assessment when administering the CAASPP was not a viable option for our students and schools. Because of the technical and connectivity requirements to administer the CAASPP remotely, TUSD chose to utilize an alternate assessment.
Students in grades 3-5 took part in the MAP (Measurement of Academic Progress) test for Mathematics and participated in the running record reading assessment (GRL) for ELA. Students in grades 6-8 and 11 took both the MAP ELA and Math assessments.
