Tuscalooosa Magnet Schools- Middle is an International Baccalaureate World School, a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School, and the 2021-2022 National School of Character. The mission of the TMSM School Counseling Program is to provide each and every student with comprehensive school counseling services to enhance their foundational development and academic and career success. By fostering high expectations, we empower students to reach their fullest potential, become lifelong learners, and grow into responsible citizens who contribute to a peaceful, inclusive world.
School counselors work diligently with all students to monitor and track academic progress. Student interviews and conferences are held quarterly to discuss student data and implement warranted interventions.
Classroom, small group, and individual lessons are conducted to teach students effective means of interacting and engaging with their peers and teachers. Lessons focus on communication skills, organization, goal setting, self advocacy, bullying awareness, and many others.
Students participate in activities and lessons that introduce them to the various career domains. Through interest surveys and career exploration activities, students are provided an overview of career pathways to help navigate their interests and future career options.
