Turning Point School has an efficient system for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. To get students in and out of vehicles safely and quickly, we maintain staggered drop-off and pick-up times and have several staff members on duty to escort students to and from the carpool lanes. Please note that the use of mobile devices is not permitted in the carpool line. Additional information on carpool procedures will be provided in the Parent/Student Handbook.
Key dates for the 2025 -26 academic year are listed in this document for your reference.
In July, you will receive an invitation to join Turning Point’s calendaring and communications app, Parent Square, where you will then be able to view a more detailed school calendar and access other important links and info.

In collaboration with our teachers and Division Heads, we’ve thoughtfully compiled a range of summer resources designed to keep your child engaged, inspired, and well-prepared for the year ahead—while still honoring the slower pace and freedom that summer brings.
Kindergarten through Grade 4 families can access resources here.
We ask that each student bring a healthy snack to eat during their scheduled snack time. Elementary students who remain on campus after school can expect to be provided with a delicious and nutritious after-school snack, also known as FUEL (Food Upgrades Energy Levels). FUEL is included in the cost of after-school activities for K-8 students.
Turning Point partners with an independent lunch vendor to provide an optional lunch service for students, which parents/caregivers can order in advance via an online account. More information on how to set up your account will be sent closer to the start of the school year.
Students are also welcome to bring their own non-perishable lunches to school. For safety reasons, we cannot provide hot water to add to lunches (such as soup cups) or have meals heated in a microwave. We recommend using ice packs if food needs to be kept cool. It is expected that lunch will be brought to school in the morning, by the student. To encourage students to develop a sense of responsibility, we ask that lunch not be brought in later by an adult. Food delivery services such as UberEats or PostMates are not permitted.
At Turning Point School, we call our After-School and Summer Programs the Out-of-School Experience: a series of sessions that expand during the summer to fill full days and contract during the regular school year to fill after-school hours.
TPS x Saken Summer Camp
Don’t let the name fool you! Saken Sports Camp, founded by Turning Point Alum Rio Saken, provides opportunities for every type of camper (not just the sports-inclined) to enjoy fun in the summertime sun with lots of games, group activities along with theme days, too.
To enroll your child, you must register directly through Saken Sports Camp:
Scroll to the Turning Point School section
If you have any questions, contact Saken Sports Camp directly at (310) 273-2459 or email fun@sakensportscamp.com
TPS x Saken Camp is open to students from the wider community, in addition to Turning Point students.
TPS Summer FUNdamentals
Turning Point's signature Back-to-School Camp will be open to new Turning Point School students who are enrolled for the 2025-26 school year. This year TPS Back-to-School Camp takes place August 11-15. More information and a link to register will be provided to new families after July 1.
After-School Options
After Care
Care for students from the end of the regular dismissal window until caregiver pick-up. Available until 6:00 pm daily.
Foundations + Focus
Foundations Classes provide an introduction to a subject for students to explore, while Focus Lessons allow more in-depth study.
Foundations classes are arranged in the same format as traditional after-school classes, with a variety of subjects explored.
Focus lessons are formatted in a conservatory-style manner, with private and semi-private lessons offered in a refined variety of subjects, including specific instruments and languages.
Foundations + Focus details and costs will be communicated to you closer to the start of the school year.
The 2025-26 Turning Point Parent/Student Handbook will be shared with parents over the summer.
Class placements are determined in August and shared with families at that time by the Division Head.
We are required to have current paperwork on file for each student before being permitted on campus for the new school year. You will receive further instructions on how to submit the required paperwork from our Registrar over the summer months.
Students are required by state law (SB 277) to have received all required immunizations unless they have a medical exemption for the missing shot(s), submitted to the school in writing by a physician. There are other considerations that may apply to you; for additional information about school immunization requirements, please visit the California Department of Public Health’s website or reference this guide:
You will receive further instructions on how to submit the required paperwork from our Registrar over the summer.
Turning Point uses a web-based platform/app called Magnus Health to digitally collect all student health and medical information, including immunizations, sports physicals, emergency and allergy action plans, consent to treat forms, and permission slips.
The many benefits to this system include less paperwork for parents, online checklists, automated reminders to let you know what is due, and the most accurate up-to-date information readily accessible to parents and appropriate school personnel.
As Magnus is a web-based system, you will have continuous access to your child’s health records and the ability to make updates when needed. More information on how to access and use Magnus Health will be sent in June.
The Veracross Parent Portal serves as the hub of information and resources you need to navigate your experience as a parent at Turning Point School. From your secure, password-protected portal, you can access information about your child as well as manage your contact information and email preferences. Learn more about the Parent Portal here.
For newly enrolled families, access to your Parent Portal will begin in July. You will use the same login to access the Parent Portal as you currently use for your Admissions Portal.
Turning Point uses a web-based platform/app called SchoolPass to obtain touchless signatures for drop-off and pick-up for students (Early Childhood only), track cars that enter and exit campus, reserve After Care, and manage dismissals and carpool.
Every parent will have access to SchoolPass to list authorized drivers, enter vehicle license plate numbers, and register for After Care. More information and instructions will be sent to you during the summer.
ParentSquare is a communication and organization tool designed to keep parents informed and involved in school activities. It functions similarly to other calendaring apps on your phone/mobile device in that it can send notifications, store information, and send reminders. Here are some of the features ParentSquare provides:
Keep track of important calendar events and RSVP for events
Receive school communication via email, text, or app notification (you have the ability to choose how you receive the information)
Access frequently-used links
Turning Point School uses Parent Square for emergency notifications. In the event of an urgent situation, you may receive email, text, and/or phone communications.
More information and instructions on how to download and access the app will be communicated directly to parents at the beginning of the school year.
Payments for tuition, Summer Camp, Out-of-School Experience options, and other expenses will be made through FACTS, and parents/caregivers will be set up with accounts prior to their first tuition payment in July.
Grade Level Representatives are an integral part of our school community. They are invaluable as school “ambassadors” and help foster an inclusive sense of community among current and new parents. Our Parent Association will introduce you to your grade level representative closer to the start of the new school year.
Every parent at Turning Point School is an important member of the Parent Association. There are no extra dues or requirements to join – just a desire to lend time and talents in a way that is most meaningful for each individual.
There are a number of committees that parents (and even grandparents!) can join, and countless ways our school and students benefit from each parent's experience, interests, and abilities. All of the information, including a sign-up form to volunteer for committees will be available closer to the start of the school year.
The Families for Belonging Committee fosters inclusiveness and connection for families of all backgrounds through avenues like Community Circles and Affinity Groups. The Committee’s overarching aim is to cultivate a sense of belonging, enriching the lives of our children and Community members.
We invite you to read an introduction letter from our Families for Belonging Committee co-chairs, Jenn Biswas and Katherine Castillo-Zeng.
Turning Point School is proud to support the non-profit organization Private School Village and its sister organization, Somos PSV.
Private School Village (PSV) and Somos PSV cultivate and harness the power of community to positively transform the private school experience for Black and Brown families so that students fully thrive.
PSV empowers parent engagement to instill student well-being, normalize inclusive and equitable communities, and encourage lasting systemic and institutional policy and process change that will impact a student's healthy development. PSV does this in partnership with families and schools by increasing racial socialization, racial literacy, representation, and related research.
If you are interested in learning more about the organization(s), we encourage you to join each organization and sign up to receive emails, resources, and information for events directly through the organization’s website.

Please help us keep track of your child's belongings by labeling all items. We have secured a 20% discount for all families through Name Bubbles, a company that creates custom labels that can be used on clothing, lunchboxes, backpacks, and more. Use the discount code TURNINGPOINT20 at checkout to receive your discount.
Our Elementary Division Head, Will Segar, is looking forward to connecting and getting to know all the new Elementary families. Individual attention will be given to each family and student as we introduce daily routines and set expectations.
