Dismissal (Pick-up)
2:30 pm to 2:45 pm

Turning Point School has an efficient system for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. In order to get students in and out of vehicles safely and quickly, we maintain staggered drop-off and pick-up times and have several staff members on duty to escort students to and from the carpool lanes.
There are two drop-off lanes during carpool. For ECD drop-off the lane closest to the curb should be used as our youngest students will feel more secure and comfortable exiting closer to the sidewalk. Please note that the use of mobile devices is not permitted in the carpool line. Additional information on carpool procedures will be provided in the Parent/Student Handbook.
Once you have dropped off or picked up your child, we require you to sign them in or out using the SchoolPass app. There is also a clipboard with a sign-in/out sheet if you cannot log in to SchoolPass. Information about SchoolPass is below and login information will be sent to you closer to the start of the school year.
In July, you will receive an invitation to join Turning Point’s calendaring and communications app, Parent Square, where you will then be able to view a more detailed school calendar and access other important links and info.

New Parent Welcome Reception: Fall 2025 - more details to come
In collaboration with our teachers and Division Heads, we’ve thoughtfully compiled a range of summer resources designed to keep your child engaged, inspired, and well-prepared for the year ahead—while still honoring the slower pace and freedom that summer brings.
Preschool and Pre-K families can access resources here.
Gentle Beginnings will take place August 11 -15 and newly-enrolled Early Childhood Division students are invited to join us! Participation is included in your tuition for the 2025-26 school year.
The programming consists of a blend of academics and summer camp activities. The schedule is designed similarly to the school-year schedule to acquaint new students with our program.
Drop-off: 8:45 am – 9:00 am
Pick-Up: 2:45 pm – 3:00 pm
After Care: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
We are thoughtful and strategic in our approach to onboarding new families and students. To ensure a smooth transition, our ECD Head, Ms. Sharon Cox, will reach out to each enrolled family in late spring or early summer. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We look forward to having your child join us!
We ask that each student bring a healthy snack to eat during their scheduled snack time. If a student will be participating in the after-school program, we ask that you please provide a second healthy snack for the afternoon.
Turning Point partners with an independent lunch vendor to provide an optional lunch service for students, which parents/caregivers can order in advance via an online account. More information on how to set up your account will be sent closer to the start of the school year.
Students are also welcome to bring their own non-perishable lunches to school. For safety reasons, we cannot provide hot water to add to lunches (such as soup cups) or have meals heated in a microwave. We recommend using ice packs if food needs to be kept cool. It is expected that lunch will be brought to school in the morning, by the student. To encourage students to develop a sense of responsibility, we ask that lunch not be brought in later by an adult. Food delivery services such as Uber Eats or PostMates are not permitted.
Turning Point offers a robust Out-of-School Experience designed to provide every family with a wide range of options for classes, lessons, and care to meaningfully fill the time between school dismissal and pick-up.
After Care includes closely supervised play and organized activities, and is available until 6 pm daily. After Care is included in the cost of tuition for ECD students only.
Foundations Classes are designed to allow students to explore a variety of interests during the school year, offering an introduction and solid foundation in each subject. Foundations Classes are offered on a trimester basis, and there is an additional cost for ECD students to participate in Foundations Classes.
Focus Lessons are designed as individual or small-group lessons, allowing students to focus more closely on and deepen their knowledge in specific subjects. Lessons are usually scheduled weekly but may be more often based on the scheduling needs of the student/family, and families can begin lessons at any time. There is an additional cost for ECD students to participate in Focus Lessons.
You will receive instructions on how to register for after-school activities closer to the start of the school year.
The 2025-26 Turning Point Parent/Student Handbook will be shared with parents over the summer. Preschool and Pre-K families can access the Early Childhood Parent Guide to prepare for the start of school in the fall.
Gentle Beginnings week (August 11-15) will serve as your child’s phase-in and an introduction to their new teachers for the academic year. If your child cannot participate in the official Gentle Beginnings program, our ECD Head, Ms. Sharon Cox, will work with your family to ensure a smooth phase-in process.
Class Placements are determined in August and shared with families at that time by the ECD Head, Ms. Sharon Cox.
We are required to have current paperwork on file for each student before they are permitted on campus for summer camp and the new school year. You will receive further instructions on how to submit the required paperwork from our Registrar.
Students are required by state law (SB 277) to have received all required immunizations unless they have a medical exemption for the missing shot(s), submitted to the school in writing by a physician. There are other considerations that may apply to you; for additional information about school immunization requirements, please visit the California Department of Public Health’s website or reference this guide:
For ECD students participating in summer camp, immunization records must be submitted before your child starts summer camp. You will receive further instructions on how to submit the required paperwork from our Registrar in early summer.
Turning Point uses a web-based platform/app called Magnus Health to digitally collect all student health and medical information, including immunizations, sports physicals, emergency and allergy action plans, consent to treat forms, and permission slips.
This system has many benefits, including less paperwork for parents, online checklists, automated reminders to let you know what is due, and the most accurate, up-to-date information readily accessible to parents and appropriate school personnel.
As Magnus is a web-based system, you will have continuous access to your child’s health records and the ability to make updates when needed. More information on how to access and use Magnus Health will be sent to you in early summer.
The Veracross Parent Portal serves as the hub of information and resources you need to navigate your experience as a parent at Turning Point School. From your secure, password-protected portal, you can access information about your child as well as manage your contact information and email preferences. Learn more about the Parent Portal here.
For newly enrolled families, access to your Parent Portal will begin in July. You will use the same login to access the Parent Portal as you currently use for your Admissions Portal.
Turning Point uses a web-based platform/app called SchoolPass to obtain touchless signatures for drop-off and pick-up for ECD students, track cars that enter and exit campus, reserve After Care, and manage dismissals and carpool.
Every parent will have access to SchoolPass to list authorized drivers, enter vehicle license plate numbers, and register for After Care. More information and instructions will be sent to you during the summer.
ParentSquare is a communication and organization tool designed to keep parents informed and involved in school activities. It functions similarly to other calendaring apps on your phone/mobile device in that it can send notifications, store information, and send reminders. Here are some of the features ParentSquare provides:
Keep track of important calendar events and RSVP for events
Share snapshots of students activities throughout the day
Receive school communication via email, text, or app notification (you have the ability to choose how you receive the information)
View photos and access frequently-used links
Turning Point School uses Parent Square for emergency notifications. In the event of an urgent situation, you may receive email, text, and/or phone communications.
More information and instructions on how to download and access the app will be communicated directly to parents at the beginning of the school year.
Payments for tuition, Out-of-School Experience options, and other expenses will be made through FACTS, and parents/caregivers will be set up with accounts prior to their first tuition payment in July. For more information or questions, contact our Controller, Kathleen Purtell. Her email is below in the Contact Us section.
Grade Level Representatives are an integral part of our school community. They are invaluable as school “ambassadors” and help foster an inclusive sense of community among current and new parents. For ECD there are two grade-level representatives, one for the Preschool cohort and one for Pre-K cohort. Our Parent Association will introduce you to your grade level representative closer to the start of the new school year.
Every parent at Turning Point School is an important member of the Parent Association. There are no extra dues or requirements to join – just a desire to lend time and talents in a way that is most meaningful for each individual.
There are a number of committees that parents (and even grandparents!) can join, and countless ways our school and students benefit from each parent's experience, interests, and abilities. All of the information, including a sign-up form to volunteer for committees will be available closer to the start of the school year.
The Families for Belonging Committee fosters inclusiveness and connection for families of all backgrounds through avenues like Community Circles and Affinity Groups. The Committee’s overarching aim is to cultivate a sense of belonging, enriching the lives of our children and Community members.
We invite you to read an introduction letter from our Families for Belonging Committee co-chairs, Jenn Biswas and Katherine Castillo-Zeng.
Turning Point School is proud to support the non-profit organization Private School Village and its sister organization, Somos PSV.
Private School Village (PSV) and Somos PSV cultivate and harness the power of community to positively transform the private school experience for Black and Brown families so that students fully thrive.
PSV empowers parent engagement to instill student well-being, normalize inclusive and equitable communities, and encourage lasting systemic and institutional policy and process change that will impact a student's healthy development. PSV does this in partnership with families and schools by increasing racial socialization, racial literacy, representation, and related research.
If you are interested in learning more about the organization(s), we encourage you to join each organization and sign up to receive emails, resources, and information for events directly through the organization’s website.
