Logging into Google Classroom
TIP: Because Google programs work well together, using Chrome as the web browser is recommended when accessing Classroom. However, you may use other browsers as long as you are logged into your TLS id account (it is highly recommended that you create a browser profile to use with your TLS id) . Alternatively, you can use the Classroom app (iOS and Android) on your mobile and tablets.
First time logging into Google Classrooms? Here are some tips...
1. Signing in
Depending on how you log in you may encounter the following:
This means you have opened the general page of Google for Education site. Just choose "Go to Classroom" button and you will get the Google account "Sign in" dialog box.
This is the "Sign in" dialog box for your Google account. Please use the unique TLS id* that has been given to you.
*your TLS id and password should have been sent to your personal email when you registered with us.
If you are signed in, you should see a list of classes that has been assigned to you.
If you do not see any of your classes, please read "Why can't I see my classes?"
TIP: If you are using the Google classroom app on your mobile, you should see this -
If you see this instead, you have either
not logged in with your TLS id.
Login first to your TLS id account in Google - HERE; after which try the link again.
Why can't I see my classes?
If you still cannot see your classrooms, please ensure that you have logged into your Google account using the unique email id given by TLS.
You can check which account you are signed into by hovering over the avatar icon at the top right corner below the search bar (Example 1)
Or click the avatar icon. You should see the current log in details in the drop down box (Example 2)
The principle is the same on the Google Classroom app on the phone (Example 3)
TIP: In Google Chrome, every TAB can be logged in differently. Be sure you're signed in to the correct Google account when you open a new TAB. The current account can sometimes be switched to your default account without you noticing. So make sure you check your login status (Example 1 or Example 2) in the active TAB.
If you are logged in and still cannot see the relevant classes that you have signed up for at TLS, please contact the administrator immediately.
UPDATE: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and most modern browsers now come with a PROFILE feature. Please create a profile for your TLS ID and turn sync on (if it is your personal device or if this is a shared device but you are allowed to create a personal workspace). Then switch to your profile before logging in.
TIP: For browsers, other than Google Chrome, create your profile first, then login to your TLS id at Google Signin page. The first Google account sign in will become the default for that profile.

If you are sure you have logged in and still cannot see the relevant classes that you have signed up for at TLS, please contact the administrator immediately. TLS currently do not use the "Class Code" feature.
2. The mechanics of Google Classroom
Click the "Join" button and you are enrolled into the class.
If there is no "Join" button, you have been automatically enrolled into the class. Or you have used the invitation link sent to your email.
If you do not see your class, please contact the administrator.
TIP: Bookmark your classroom homepage (https://classroom.google.com/h) for faster access to it the next time.

CLASSWORK
PEOPLE
STREAM is like a newsfeed where you will see all the posts which include announcements and comments, and most importantly, links to zoom meetings. Example: “Tung Ling Seminary posted new material” to student comments or questions.
CLASSWORK is where your materials like e-notes, slides, recordings, etc. are posted. You will also find your tests and assignments here. This is also the area where you submit your assignments.
PEOPLE is where you can see who your classmates and teachers are! (This will depend on the settings set by the administrator).

3. Some terms you should know....
Google Classroom will be used for better communication and administration. This is where you will find your tests and assignments posted and this is also where you will do your submissions (however, we will still accept submissions by email, only as last resort). Please regularly check the STREAM for up-to-date announcements in regards to your particular class and regularly check the CLASSWORK to see if any coursework has been assigned to you. An email notification will be sent to your TLS id account (you can access your TLS id emails using any email client as per your personal email).
