MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMS

AbouT MISSIO DEI LEADERSHIP & THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE

Missio Dei Leadership & Theological College (formerly known as Mattersey Hall) is a Christian College with a vision to form the next generation of Christian leaders. It does this through training and education that is both innovative and marked by academic excellence, designed to achieve productive Christian service in leadership and ministry.

Mattersey Hall Christian College has been a leading Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian College since it was founded in London in 1909. And now rebranded as Missio Dei, we continue to champion the cause of raising and training well-equipped leaders and prepare our students to be effective, skilled people ready for ministry in the 21st Century world. We emphasise lifelong learning, spiritual vitality and life skills to ensure that our graduates make a Christ-centred contribution to the communities in which they live and work. Our academic programs are all designed to ensure that our students become effective thinkers, good communicators and passionate followers of Jesus

MA Programs

These days more and more people are enrolling on postgraduate courses. Recognized postgraduate qualifications reflect advanced professional training or specialist knowledge and ability. At Missio Dei, we are committed, not only to the next generation of Christian leaders, but also, to the support of those currently involved in Christian leadership; and we hope our master's degree programs might figure as part of your continuing professional development: building and refreshing skills, offering new insights, and discussing, researching and evaluating new ideas.

Our MA programs will require the completion of five 20-credit taught modules – usually examined by an essay of 4,500-5000 words – and an 80-credit Dissertation of 18,000 words. All students study a compulsory Research Methods, Perspectives and Resources module, and four others. Modules for the MA in Biblical Studies and the MA in Practical Theology are delivered by distance learning with tutorials hosted by Tung Ling Seminary in October/November. The usual mode of study is part-time: completing the five taught modules and the Dissertation over two years, though it can be done full-time in one year (September to September).

Admission Requirements

All of our MA programs have two main entry routes.

The first route is with a recognized Bachelors degree in Theology or a theology-related subject. We would normally expect applicants to have achieved second-class honours or above.

The alternative route is for those without formal qualifications, but who have at least two years senior leadership experience in a church or mission context. Those admitted via the alternative route will normally be required to submit an essay to demonstrate suitability for the program. The MA in Biblical Studies also requires a level of competence in one or more biblical language. Tuition in Greek or Hebrew as preparation for the MA in Biblical Studies is available.
