Build a Hoop Glider
A twist on the paper plane that uses rings for wings!
Materials Needed:

Drinking straw
Index card or paper
Tape
Scissors
Instructions:
Instructions:
Cut the index card vertically into three equal strips of paper.
Take one of the strips and form a hoop with it, overlapping the two ends and taping them together.
Take the other two strips and tape them together, forming one long strip.
Form another hoop with the longer strip, taping the two ends together. You should now have two paper hoops, one slightly larger than the other.
Tape one end of the straw to the inside of one of the hoops. Tape the other end of the straw to inside of the other hoop.
Fly it! Hold the straw in the middle with both hoops facing up. Tilt the hoop glider up and throw it the way you would throw a dart.

In this cool experiment you will make a plane using only paper that will allow you to think through what makes planes fly.

An 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper

Fold a letter size sheet of paper in half.
Unfold the paper and bend the top corners toward the crease.
Bend each of the triangular flaps toward the middle to sharpen the point.
Fold the paper in half along the vertical crease.
