Expectations and Procedures

Daily Supplies

    • Math Binder / Spiral
    • Pencil / Eraser
    • Open mind and good attitude ready to learn

Purpose

This Math class is designed to increase your ability in logic, critical thinking, problem solving as they pertains to mathematics. Scholars will work with a combination of a textbook curriculum and computer application which will progress at their own rate and give immediate feedback. The goal for General Ed Mathematics is to have the students gain the knowledge needed to be successful now and at higher level mathematics classes.

Do the work

    • Come to class prepared (pencil, spiral or binder, completed work)
    • NO HOMEWORK WILL BE ASSIGNED
      • All in class assignments not completed will be completed as homework and turned in next day
    • Be comfortable enough to struggle
      • It is good to struggle, it is not ok to give up
      • Not doing the work is easiest way to fail our class
      • The only time you fail is when you give up

Get to Class On Time

    • Grace period of 1 minutes
    • 1-10 minutes is a tardy
    • After 10 min is truancy
    • Scholars will be sent to the office for being tardy / truant
    • Plan your day to ensure timeliness to each class
    • Check in with teacher before you go to the bathroom

Grading

    • Grades will be based off of assignments , projects, quizzes and tests
    • Tests, Quizzes, and Projects are heavily weighted and affect grade more than daily work

A = 90 - 100% B = 80 - 89% C = 70 - 79% D = 60 - 69% F = 0 - 59%

Late work

    • If absent the due date is extended by twice the amount of days missed (i.e.: 3 days absent, 6 day extension)
    • First day late 20% off
    • After the First day late 50% credit

Typical Day

    • Enter the classroom in an orderly manner
    • Check the board for daily agenda
    • Start with a DO NOW as Teachers take roll
    • Scholars will sit in assigned seats
    • When finished scholars may work on individual assignments quietly at desks

Notes

    • Each scholar needs a binder or spiral dedicated to math class
    • Binders remain in class to allow ability to keep notes organized and used for assignments
    • Note check the last Friday of each month

ALEKS or KHAN ACADEMY

    • Aleks is our computer application where scholars will work on assignments, quizzes and tests
    • There will be a due date for each assignment
    • Scholars will have time to complete tasks in class, but will have ability to work at home
    • Scholars will be graded three ways
        • Time Spent in application
        • Topics completed on a per week basis
        • Assignments, Quizzes and Tests
    • Finish class as a group to discuss needs and understanding of objectives


Hall Pass

    • No leaving the classroom 10 minutes after bell or before the bell
    • One boy and one girl out at a time
    • Bring Water to class
    • Take care of needs during passing periods

Cellphone use

    • Cellphones remain silent and put away at all times
      • 1st offense – Warning with documentation
      • 2nd offense – Phone is taken and sent to administration; student is sent to TRAICE
