The Tualatin High Library's mission is to provide an inclusive school library and collection that fosters community and empowers every student as a reader, scholar, and creator.
The library is open on school days from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Students may visit the library when they do not have class scheduled or during class time if they have an eHallPass or a signed permission slip from their instructor.
Students are expected to sign in via Chromebooks by the North exit.
Show respect to staff, students, and others.
Be mindful of your voice level so that it doesn’t disrupt others.
Take good care of borrowed materials, and keep them safe and dry.
Students can check out as many books as they need for their studies!
Students with 5+ library books checked out may be asked to bring some back before getting new material.
Students will accrue a replacement fee if the material is significantly damaged.
Students, or their caregivers, can request fine forgiveness at bit.ly/tuhsfees if they cannot pay the replacement fee of materials that have been lost or damaged.
Students can renew materials if they need them past their due date.
When the bell rings, students will be asked to go to class if they are not already moving toward their classrooms.
About 5 minutes after the bell rings, a staff member will check in with any remaining students to see if they have a pass and/or are allowed to be in the library.
Students are not allowed to use their cell phones during instruction.
Students are expected to lock phones away while in the library.
Students are not allowed to record, film, or photograph others unless it is directly related to an assignment and proof of the assignment is provided.
Students shall avoid mimicry, per TTSD’s Responsible Use of Technology guide.
Students are not allowed to eat in the library.
Students may drink water in the library from a bottle with a closed lid.
Students are expected to help keep the library clean by:
Pushing their chair in after use.
Throwing away their trash.
Reporting messes and spills to the librarian.
Students may visit the library during lunch time but they must eat their lunch elsewhere. Please make sure that you eat, just not in the library!
At Tualatin High, students who have a free release period agreed to take it off campus so they should try their best to honor that agreement. If you need help navigating free release, please contact a counselor or administrator.
Students will be given one chance to adjust minor misbehaviors after a staff redirection is given and may be asked to leave if they do not adjust their behavior.
Students will be asked to leave the library if they are skipping class.
Severe misbehavior will be addressed immediately by the administration.
Behavior management will be addressed in a restorative manner in accordance with the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook & Discipline Framework.
TTSD Library Services acquisition and other policies are explained in the district TTSD Library Services Guidance document.
