Which subjects might you have to take if you already have a particular course in mind:
Architecture: Physics and Maths may be required. Please consider taking DT or Visual Art to build your portfolio
Computer Science: Maths is often required
Economics: Maths is often required. Economics is not required
Engineering: Maths and Physics are often required
Sport Science: prerequisites of one or two of the following subjects are often required: Biology, Chemistry or Psychology
Law: usually no prerequisites. Scotland asks for English Literature. Consider taking essay-based subjects such as English Literature, History, Philosophy, Politics etc...
Medicine: Chemistry required. Biology is often required. Consider taking subjects such as Philosophy or Psychology in combination with Chemistry and Biology
Politics and International Relations: usually no prerequisites. Consider taking History, Politics, Philosophy, Languages, etc...
Psychology: Psychology not required. May require a science if studying for a BSc Psychology
Visual/Performing Arts: relevant subject recommended. Portfolio or audition usually required
Subject you enjoy and it's something you look forward to studying. Your grades in the subject provide evidence in the subject that it is an area of strength.
Balance of challenge and workload, we are all for you pushing yourself to take a challenging level or subject, however, make sure you don't overwhelm yourself with additional commitments and stress.
Future university course choice is a consideration for universities outside the USA as there may be subject prerequisites or requirements.
